Dhoni starts his practice ahead of IPL opening match


CHENNAI: Defending champions of the IPL League Chennai Super Kings have started off their practice session ahead of the IPL season 12. A group of Domestic players started their practice sessions on March 7, Now after India’s series with Australia Dhoni has join the squad of IPL Chennai team on Saturday Evening. The skipper who arrived to Chennai on Friday for lead his team in IPL, Dhoni commence the session with a quick run of the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Dhoni is as a real leader and smart man to lead a team especially in a competitive game in Cricket. On the Eva of IPL that starts from 23 March, Dhoni shared a few tips with medium Pacer Mohit Sharma before engaging himself in a long conversation with CSK coach Stephen Fleming and with the other members of the supporting staff.

The likely openers of CSK’S innings in IPL Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu spent more than a hour hitting the ball to all parts of the ground. The bowling duties we’re shared by team bowlers Mohit, Thakur Asif and Shardul. Other International Overseas cricketers of the team were busy with their national side and are expected to take part of CSK soon in the coming days.

This will be the start for Dhoni’s practice sessions but the whole team have had their practice sessions earlier and they reached to the final stage of net practice as the opening match is ahead on 23 March. CSK – who won their third crown last year – will be keen to kick off their title defense on a triumphant note.

The team is scheduled to play a warm-up game on Sunday among themselves. “The match will be played from 6 and 9 pm. Entry will be free for fans and they can catch the action from the C, D and E stands (lower),” said a CSK official.

CSK are expected to receive a warm welcome from their passionate fans as they return to Chennai for the first time since April 10, 2018. CSK had played only one home game last season as the matches were shifted out of Chennai due to Cauvery River dispute.

Michael Hussey, meanwhile, said the players are looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd in the upcoming season of IPL.

Meanwhile, the tickets for the season opener are sold out. “We started the tickets sales at around 11.30 am on Saturday. The Rs 1,300 category was the first category of tickets to go off the shelves within a few hours. The rest of the ticket sales concluded by evening,” added the official.
