Mahendra Singh Dhoni and two more senior players of CSK were out from the playing XI.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni sat out the match against Mumbai Indians because of fever, with Suresh Raina leading the Chennai Super Kings on Friday. Besides Dhoni, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was also forced to sit out due to illness with the home side making three changes overall. “MS and Jaddu are not well, they have fever and they will miss today’s game,” Raina said at the toss.
This is the second time Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not in CSK game this season; the first being against the Sunrisers Hyderabad because of back spasms. Chennai has won two and lost two matches in Dhoni’s absence which is also considering a factor for leading a team.

Even after 11 years, CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni remains the best player for the yellow army. He has been striking the ball at 137.11 in this IPL.
“MS and Jaddu are not well, they have fever and they will miss today’s game. We have three changes: MS, Jaddu and one more player is not playing (Faf). Dhruv Shorey, Murali Vijay and Santner come in,” stand-in skipper Raina said after winning the toss at Chepauk. CSK will field first.
