Rajasthan Royals’ Shreyas Gopal celebrates after taking a hat-trick against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Shreyas Gopal became only the third Indian player after Amit Mishra and Yuvraj Singh to pick up multiple hat-tricks in Twenty20 format. Gopal had bagged a hat-trick in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018-19 for Karnataka against Haryana.
Rajasthan Royals had won the toss and decided to field earlier in the evening but heavy rain meant the players had to wait for 3 hours and 26 minutes before the match, reduced to 5-overs-a-side, could finally begin.

Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis, in that order, fell to the dip and the variation in line and length from the Karnataka leg-break bowler, who dismissed First Kohli, then AB and then Marcus Stoinis. Stoinis picks this up and then smacks it straight to Steve Smith at mid-off. The celebrations in RR camp is astounding.
After the initial burst, RCB is losing its way. Kohli and de Villiers for the second time this season, having had their scalps in the reverse fixture at Sawai Mansingh Stadium as well.
Gopal’s hat-trick is the second of this IPL season, with Sam Curran’s 20th-over hat-trick in Kings XI Punjab’s fixture against Delhi Capitals at PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali leading his team to an unlikely win.
Shreyas Gopal, who plays for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, is a Bangalore local boy. Born in 1992, Gopal has played 56 first-class matches and has picked 184 wickets. In 29 List A matches, Gopal has 46 wickets.
