However, in October 2017, the Kerala High Court reinstated the life ban imposed on Sreesanth.

– Eliminating the life ban, the Supreme Court also clarified that his decision will not affect the criminal proceedings pending against Sreesanth in the Delhi High Court. The Delhi Police has challenged the lower court’s decision in the High Court where all the accused, including Sreesanth, were acquitted.

– The lower court had acquitted the rest of the cricketers, including Sreesanth, in the July 2015 spot-fixing criminal case. However, in October 2017, the Kerala High Court restored the lifelong ban imposed on Sreesanth.

– Sreesanth challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court. Sreesanth, while referring to the lower court verdict in his application, said that the lifelong ban imposed on them by the BCCI is a very strict decision. There is no such evidence that it proves that they were engaged in any illegal activity.

– Sreesanth debuted in ODIs against Sri Lanka in 2005 and test debuted against England in 2006. Sreesanth has taken 87 wickets in 27 Test matches, while 53 ODIs have taken 75 wickets. In 10 T20 matches he has 7 wickets in his name.

Sreesanth was arrested in 2013

– In May 2013, the Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth when he was involved in spot-fixing during IPL. Sreesanth was then playing for Rajasthan Royals team. He was arrested along with his teammates Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila. After which the BCCI had imposed a lifelong ban on all three.

In this case, the Delhi Police issued a tape while describing how the cricketers used to remove towels, turn the locket, field decorate, watch the clock and use the normalization as a codeward.

– The police had told that Sreesanth used to put a white towel inside the trousers during the match, and when he was pointing out how many more balls he had to throw, he would point out his hand wiping it with that towel.

Sreesanth has given this player an example for the return.
