VIVO IPL 2019, Match 9 was played between KXIP vs MI. Kings XI Punjab won the match against Mumbai Indians after a long battle. Kings XI Punjab won by 8 Wicket with 8 balls remaining at Punjab Cricket Associationin Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Saturday 30 March 2019. Earlier, Mumbai Indians had put up a score of 176/7 in their 29 overs. Their chase was spearheaded by a controlled innings from KL Rahul, who remained unbeaten on 71, and some aggressive cameos from Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal.
Talking about impressive knock, Ashwin said, “I just hope that he goes from strength to strength from here on. He has had a fabulous year and he has been striking the ball really well. I think he has been a touch unlucky when it comes to IPL. But I think this is going to be his year,” in the post-match presentation.
Following his dismissal, Mayank took the responsibility to become the aggressor at the middle amid Rahul’s struggle.
He laced four boundaries and two sixes in 21 deliveries at a spectacular strike rate of 204.76 to score 43 runs and reduce the equation for KXIP before being caught and bowled by Krunal Pandya.
